AMELIE LENS JOINS RICHIE HAWTIN ON THE CLOSE TOUR TO NORTH AMERICA

Iconic electronic music artist and technology visionary RICHIE HAWTIN today (Oct 4) announces Belgian electronic music artist and one of the fastest rising stars in today’s techno scene AMELIE LENS will join him as support for his only North American show this year of CLOSE – his award-winning audio-visual show set at Brooklyn’s Avant Gardner in New York City on Saturday, December 8. The event is produced by OUTPOST Events.
“I first heard Amelie at ADE last year. I thought the best way to see if she was any good was to go on the dancefloor and dance, which I did.  I couldn’t see her from where I was and was sucked into the music she was playing –  a mix of old and new strong techno records, tough but not hard, fast and throbbing which was hypnotic and energized,” states RICHIE HAWTIN“Honestly, it was really refreshing to hear a Techno set that wasn’t too abrasive and didn’t make you feel like you should be marching instead of dancing. It was definitely intense, but there was an underlying groove that made it fun and infectious.”
“As a young artist it really impresses me how Richie keeps innovating and reinventing himself. He keeps finding new ways to express himself and in my opinion that is exactly why he has been on the top of the scene since so many years,” adds AMELIE LENS. “Always looking for more, always looking to do better. To me he is a legend, a true inspiration and I’m honored to be involved in this project.”

HAWTIN’s show, CLOSE – SPONTANEITY AND SYHNCHRONICITY, explores the relationship between human creativity and the innovative technologies that enable an artist to express themselves. The show was voted Best Live Performance at the Ibiza DJ Awards this year and Best Live Performance 2017 at the DJ Awards. Having debuted the concept at Coachella followed by shows at Primavera Sound, ADE and Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera HouseCLOSE opens up the DJ booth for a transparent masterclass in Spontaneity & Synchronicity. It represents how far the art of DJing can be pushed today, thanks to a completely improvised performance which means no two shows are the same.
In recent years, HAWTIN’s pioneering work has crossed over into artistic and cultural fields, collaborating with Anish Kapoor – one of the most influential sculptors working today – at the Grand Palais in Paris; performing live as Plastikman at the Guggenheim in New York for fashion designer Raf Simons; and creating soundscapes to the photographic work of Andreas Gursky at the Gagosian in New York and K20 in Dusseldorf. HAWTIN‘s electronic productions and DJ sets make him one of the most respected artists to emerge from the early 1990s techno scene.
The Great Hall at Avant Gardner is the quintessential Brooklyn industrial warehouse, that’s anything but. A massive and soaring space equipped with KV2 Audio’s VHD5.0 sound system, customizable rigging capabilities and fully programmable lighting fixtures built to immerse attendees in the ultimate show experience.
OUTPOST is an event series produced by the award-winning team at OUTPUT featuring top tier electronic artists in world-class performance spaces.

Interview: EDDIE Drops “Numb” On mau5trap

After kicking off the re brand of “EDDIE” via the creation of the robot skull, named “Lawton”…EDDIE released 2 free download tracks independently via soundcloud, both within the same month, January 2017. A very
unique choice of electro. Shortly after, he was approached by mau5trap and asked to debut on the label via their “we are friend’s volume 6” compilation (WAF006) with his track ‘No Time’ in March 2017. The track was a hot favorite on the compilation, leaving a welcoming, positive reaction from the mau5trap horde fan base. Only 3 short months after and he debuts his first EP named “Pipe Dream” which includes another horde favorite ‘Healing’ the Ep charted top 10 in the electro house section on beatport top 100.
Since then EDDIE’s featured on mau5trap another 3 times. One being WAF007 another being his 2nd EP named “Bad Habits” which was seen in the top 15 in the electronic iTunes charts US…..and his latest remix of fellow mau5trap buddy, BlackGummy.

We were lucky enough to chat with EDDIE about his latest release and some new upcoming projects.

  1. Tell us a little about yourself how you started off as a DJ/producer?

When I was about 14 a few of my class mates showed me a local artist who was just beginning to blow up with a genre called “ Melbourne bounce.” From that moment I was just absolutely intrigued and wanted to know more, I didn’t even want to learn to produce yet until that same year I went to my first ever festival (underage festival) and looking back now it was such an incredible line-up: Avicii, Skrillex, deadmau5, Dada Life and more….but yeah straight after seeing these acts and experiencing all this electronic dance music live…I remember coming home with the biggest smile on my face because it was the most incredible experience and right there I had the thought of ‘what it would be like learning how to produce’ but I talked myself out of it thinking I wasn’t smart enough or I’d fail miserably because it just seemed so hard. Skipping forward A year and a half later, still a massive fan of electronic music and making mashups on virtual DJ [lol] I eventually asked a friend of mine if he could show me how to use the program that he has [which was FL studio9].

I got FL and had the basics down, watched a heap of tutorials and spent a solid 4 hours or so a day just messing about.

At about the age of 17/18 i started to take it more seriously and thought maybe I could actually make some sort of career out of this and that’s pretty much the start.

      1. Who are some of your biggest musical influences, someone you look up to?
Oooh there’s so many but I’ll be keeping it short and say that the heavy influencers would have to be: Heatbeat, Mirwais, Eric Prydz [& all his alias’s], Avicii, Gesaffelstein and of course mr deadmau5.

      1. What do you normally do when you come across a creative block while producing music?
        • I mean if I hit an obvious block and notice myself forcing productions then I just game a whole lot and not produce for like at least 5 days straight and I always have a Harry Potter marathon during that period, that’s never failed me.. my lucky charm haha!
      2. You’re latest track, “Numb,” has some pretty cool hard techno beats that give off Rezz vibes, would you say she’s someone you look up to and gain inspiration from?
        • The idea behind Numb was really just to try and do something really different and the vocal is unreal so working around that vocal I naturally leant towards a darker theme. There was no inspiration for majority of the track only the second drop I tried to get a sort of Gesaffelstein vibe, but in saying that I do find Rezz very inspiring with everything she’s done in such little time, its quite amazing.. 😊

      3. What was the creative process behind “Numb” while collaborating with Q’AILA?
        • So Q’AILA sent me the demo and i loved it, I had this cool unusual vision for it and updated her with links frequently and we went back forth with our ideas/visions up until it was finished, which was very quickly actually!

You know when a track just keeps on getting better the more you work on it? And its comes together so quickly, Well that happened with “Numb!”

      1. You’re getting ready to release your ‘Spiritual Contraband’ EP, what can listeners expect from it that’s different from your previous releases?
        • Yes I’m super excited for everyone to hear this EP!

I think listeners should expect the unexpected from me, I’m always releasing something different from my previous release… I like to have people guessing what will come next!

      1. Tell us 3 things that we don’t know about you (hobbies, fun facts, likes/dislikes, funny stories while performing).
        • I’m a Harry Potter nerd and I have a shrine of collectables
        • I’m from Australia [ everyone thinks I’m from USA]
        • I am a big fan of sports, as is my father so I’ve been into it all since I can remember but I especially played tennis for 9 years and I somehow ended up sitting in a chair making music all day instead lmao.

Monstergetdown and RHYNO Drop “Tic Toc”

Off of their latest collaborative project entitled ‘125ER’ EP, Monstergetdown and RHYNO ran a YouTube mau5trap exclusive with one of the tracks “Tic Toc.”

The vibey tech hau5 EP dropped on mau5trap, and features 4 dance-floor ready tracks for the horde.

You can purchase/download the EP here: http://smarturl.it/125ER.

mau5trap’s Australian friend EDDIE Teams Up with Canadian Singer Q’AILA On “Numb”

It appears that a massive sound wave has emerged from the shores of Australia. Counting down to the official comeback release Australian producer EDDIE, the mau5trap family is excited to break the mold with the 21-year-old’s typical sound production.

Following his previous two EPs ‘Pipe Dream’ and ‘Bad Habits’, as well as his most recent remix for fellow mau5trap recording artist BlackGummy, EDDIE returns to the label with an absolute stand-out track entitled “Numb,” out on September 25th, 2018 via mau5trap.

Enlisting the aid of Canadian singer/ songwriter Q’AILA, “Numb” immediately sparks the interest of listeners who are primed for progressive in the sound space of EDDIE. Setting the mood for dangerous temptations, EDDIE x Q’AILA’s compounded efforts result in experimentation at it’s core.
Amplifying the emotive feel, an accumulation of alluring vocal work and smooth breakdowns, “Numb,” picks up the tempo with an unexpected yet intriguing mixture of soaring synths and hard techno beats. To say the least, Australian producer is pushing progressive to the max and taking risks with his upcoming single “Numb”, out now!

Danilo Ercole and OMAIR Dream Up Their Latest Collaboration, “In Dreams” ft. Bev Wild

On September 21st, 2018, on OHM MusicDanilo Ercole and OMAIR dove into this multidimensional dream concept on “In Dreams,” a powerful love ballad with a focus on sensual desire and unapologetic infatuation. To bring the vision to life, they would need the voice of a siren; A vocal representative for “In Dreams”’compelling character. Enter in “Running Up That Hill”s Bev Wild, and suddenly the dark undertones bond with the weightless melodic echo of vocal purity. As we close our eyes to let the whistful essence wash over our conscious state, the dream sequence commences. Who will enter the doorway of your dreams when you fade away under the hypnotizing rhythm? Pay attention because….

“We dream so we don’t have to be apart so long. If we’re in each other’s dreams, we can play together all night” ~Bill Watterson

“So I believe I wrote about 5 different drops for this track, some of them were cool but not fitting for this vocal and overall feel of the song… I especially wanted this track to be remembered with it having a powerful first drop and a hard second drop. In the end, I’m very happy with how this came out and i’m please to say that I have many more songs on the way!” – Quix

Slander And RIOT Release “You Don’t Even Know Me”

Shortly after dropping their metal-dubstep track, “Kneel Before Me” with Asking Alexandria and Crankdat, Slander returns with another bass-heavy single, “You Don’t Even Know Me,” joined with up-and-coming Israeli duo, RIOT. After this latest release, Slander has proven that they are capable of so much more than a singular genre, creating tracks such as “Happy Now,” “Move Back” with WAVEDASH, and “Slow Motion” with Bret James.

Although RIOT is still young in the scene, they’ve been blazing through their own trails by reaching Beatport’s No. 1 in the dubstep, hip-hop and glitch charts six times. They’ve played with renowned DJs and producers such as Infected Mushroom, Borgore, Afrojack, Nicky Romero, Carnage and more, and recently curated their own festival brand, Riot Festival.

The vocal bass ballad is built upon cinematic melodies that plunge into a powerful drop with smooth, yet reverberating, baselines. “You Don’t Even Know Me,” which is out now on Monstercat, feels posing ant and slightly melancholy as the production is complemented by emotive vocals, a touch that turns the track from potential dance floor hit to a cathartic club experience. RIOT gives their signature touch of progressive melodies and heavy bass-lines on the track giving it that perfect energy to create an immediate impression and memory to last a lifetime for listeners. With the song’s fresh and transforming sound, Slander and RIOT have definitely created a timeless fan favorite.

BOYS NOIZE RELEASES NEW SINGLE “KILLER” FT. STEVEN A. CLARK

Today, Boys Noize (aka Alex Ridha) has revealed a cover of the legendary Adamski track “Killer”, featuring Steven A. Clark HERE. The accompanying video is a remake of the original video HERE (dir LIL INTERNET) and was shot at the very rare location c-base in Berlin, which is “the mother of all hackspaces”! The area where “Killer” was mostly filmed is called the “airlock” and they refer to themselves as a Space Station.

Alex and Steven bonded over the track while working on Steven A. Clark’s album Where Neon Goes To Die (prod. by Boys Noize), which came out earlier this month on September 7th. The original version, featuring Seal on vocals, was an acid house anthem on the European charts in 1989 – here Boys Noize’s industrial techno take gives the beats an extra punch. “Killer” is available on vinyl, with the instrumental version on the b-side. Direct link to vinyl HERE.

Boys Noize about the track: “Being a 90’s kid, I kind of grew up with this song which later became one of these tunes I’d play out at the end of the night. When I met Steven and heard his voice for the first time I immediately thought of that track and the idea of doing a cover version was born. It was initially just for fun, but it turned banging and lit the dancefloors wherever I’d drop it – so here I am sharing my industrial KILLER.”

Boys Noize has been spending time in the studio with artists Lady Gagaand 03 Greedo, in addition to production work for ASAP Rocky’s Testingalbum and RL Grime’s single “Pressure”, both released earlier this year. Boys Noize recently announced his fall North American tour, stopping in cities across the US from LA, Denver, New York to Atlanta and ending with sets on FriendShip – tickets available now at boysnoize.com.

Berlin-based producer/DJ Boys Noize runs his own label, Boysnoize Records, with Oi Oi Oi marking the full-length album debut of Alex Ridha.
