JON CASEY BRINGS NEW NOISE FROM SOUTH AFRICA WITH NEW ‘6 CALIBER’ EP

With an ever-expanding global soundscape, there is an unlimited reserve of new sounds and up-and-coming artists from around the world. Buygore Records’ Fresh Blood sub-label has welcomed some of the underground bass music scene’s most promising of 2017; as we begin the new year, it feels more than fitting to expand the Fresh Blood roster for a hidden gem from South Africa. Operating under the moniker Jon Casey, our next release gives listeners a palatable sampling of tunes that reflect his inner maestro in his forthcoming ‘6 Caliber’ EP.   The forthcoming ‘6 Caliber’ project is the first of its kind on the Fresh Blood imprint. Straying away from the typical dubstep-centric releases, Jon Casey’s four-track installment introduces a variety of rap-infused, experimental-style beats from the underground. Each track on the EP enfolds another facet of Jon Casey’s production skillset. “Flexin’” featuring LA-based rapper Macntaj gives ‘6 Caliber’ a robust preamble, fusing together elements of hip-hop, rap, and freeform trap rhythms. Jon Casey’s ‘6 Caliber’ is also home to three new collaborators. Featuring Philadelphia-based hip hop artist Abrax Phaeton on the bass heavy track entitled “Get Right”, as well as Jetset and Magmag on “Chainsaw”, it is clear that Casey’s skillfulness reaches new heights with every release. Hailing from Pretoria, South Africa, Casey’s ‘6 Caliber’ EP is set to be the first Fresh Blood release of the new year. The self-taught bedroom music producer may only be 21-years-old, but he is entering 2018 with a promising start. After bringing his unique sound design from South America to the U.S., Jon Casey does not disappoint in his forthcoming Fresh Blood release.

Snugs – “Radio Silence” feat. HAILZ

Introducing Snugs: A conceptual music project that is just as much an ethos and story as a DJ/producer duo. Spearheaded by a lovable but mischievous character, Snugs encapsulates everything related to comfort, creativity and the bedroom.   Snugs’ music is launching to the world with a debut on Proximity, the new label headed by the massively popular YouTube channel of the same name. Their first single “Radio Silence” is a brilliantly crafted electronic-pop hit, resembling the budding crossover between the electronic and pop realms that has been led by artists like Louis The Child and Jack Ü. The single perfectly characterizes Snugs’ sound, rife with bright, danceable energy; soaring synths; and cute but cheeky fills. The production lays an ideal groundwork for a fittingly pop-conscious vocal melody by HAILZ, a vocalist with recent hit releases on Spinnin’ Records.   Not just releasing their music in a vacuum, Snugs have accompanied their debut with a host of other components, including a lyric video, an accompanying story for the track, and an unveiling of a physical stuffed animal created from the Snugs character. Below is the story behind Radio Silence, giving a first glimpse into Snugs’ world:   She tapped her finger nervously on the side of the illuminated screen. Her words in a wall of blue text screaming back at her. She shifted uncomfortably in her bed not able to find a comfortable position. It had been exactly seven hours since his last response. In her desperation she cries out for comfort with all her might…   In that moment Snugs was listening. An omniscient and benevolent being, he rushes to action and appears at the foot of her bed.   “Who are you?” the girl asked. “Hello there. I am snugs. I heard your cry for help.” “Did he send you?” “No.” “Can you make him respond to me?” “No.” “Well then what good are you to me?” “I cannot make your problems disappear, but I can be here through times of need. We all get frustrated sometimes when it feels like we are being ignored. Sometimes the best things to do is just to let it allllll go. Our lives and happiness are not dependent on other people. We create our own comfort. Now grab a blanket, throw a pillow, get up on your bed and dance!”

In a recent interview with Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Diplo revealed that Skrillex is working on a new album. “Skrillex is working on a new album. I think that after that and the new album that we are preparing with Major Lazer, we will make music together again,” said Diplo. Not only can fans expect some new music in 2018, but it also sounds like Diplo and Skrillex are planning to revive Jack U.

FestEvo Reveals Game-Changing Web Platform For FestivalGoers

Music festivals have evolved into a popular event for people all over the world to enjoy, especially over the summer. Tucker Gumber, CEO and Founder of the game-changing web platform, FestEvo, just made it a lot easier for festival goers to access products, book travel plans, discover new music and more. The Andoird and iOS app was designed to provide solutions to a variety of problems that festival goers typically run into such as finding the right gear tailored for festival-specific usage, technology, education, make traveling easier through their partnership with Priceline, and find the hottest fashion with brands like SpiritHoods, Grassroots California and JUICY RV. Over the past seven years, Gumber has attended over 126 festivals since 2011, and after noticing several universal festival challenges, he set out to solve them. He wanted to establish festival etiquette, unite the festival community, have fans discover and support up-and-coming artists through their database of over 30,000 artists and DJs in the world, promote top vendors and reward festival goers for being active participants in the community.
“There was a point in my adventures attending music festivals where I realized festivaling is just as much of an outdoor hobby as my other passions of fishing, golfing, and snowboarding,” says Gumber. “It brings people together. The more you do it, the better you get at it, the more gear you add to your collection, the more fun you have doing it. The thing is, unlike other outdoor activities, there’s never been any established etiquette or education. With many hobbies, knowledge is passed from veteran-to-newbie, there are books you can read, courses you can take. There are plenty of brands that support outdoor enthusiasts with products and information: fisherman have Bass Shop Pro, golfers have GolfSmith, snowboarders have REI. That has ever existed for festivaling. Until now.”
As a bonus, FestEvo allows users to earn flyer miles, and have the chance to win festival tickets, experience packages and use points to purchase gear. Users can see which of their friends are attending which events as well as swap tickets and organize meetups all over North America, Europe and Australia. FestEvo currently offers memberships for $10/year and continues to develop, looking to make one’s festival experience better.
