Drug Dealers are suing Ultra Music Festival for canceling

Not a good day in Miami as it seems many drug dealers are pissed and taking in the news of Ultra Miami’s cancellation the wrong way. As of this morning the city council went forward on live local television to make the official cancellation (you can see here: official statement ). “It wasn’t a great day for us that gotta hustle tourists” said Juan Pablo, who we got to interview outside of his little Havana home just west of Brickell.

Juan Pablo went on to mention that the ability to over price his goods and rip off tourists is what keeps food on the table year round for his family. He seemed devastated! We also got to speak to his neighbor who didn’t want to be identified and said that “It’s all politics” and that “Ultra didn’t want to take the heat for it”. The unidentified individual was looking forward to the festival and breaking his own personal record of stealing cell phones, which he boasted about being Just over 200 phones the last ultra.

With Miami Music Week somewhat intact it seems these Miami hustlers are going to have to target the smaller crowds and hope for the best.

Wooks use ketamine to fight off CoronaVirus

We took to Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival to hangout and ask festival goers about their festival experience so far and who they were most eager to see on the lineup. We ended up running into a group of wooks and before I could ask for their names I was already being offered a bump of K. The dude kept insisting me to snort and that it would keep me safe. I was curious to know what they were trying to keep safe from.

The one I assumed to be the leader of the pack who also held the biggest healing stone as a necklace introduced himself as “Moon Shadow” … he also claimed he was Tipper’s 2nd cousin. He went on to mention that he’d seen Bassnectar 35 times and that was only in 2019. Moon Shadow went on to mention that life on the go hasn’t been so easy and going from camping fest to camping fest takes a lot out of the body “especially if you haven’t showered in weeks” he adds.

When Moon Shadow came across news about the CoronaVirus he knew he had to keep himself and other fellow wooks safe. He told me that the power of the crystal is sacred but wasn’t enough to fight off the bad vibes from the virus and that Ketamine offered a special healing power that not even the rave gods could provide. Moon Shadow demonstrated how to take in the K for it to work… I noticed that through out the whole process he held the crystal with his left hand tightly as he snorted 3 fat bumps. He looked at me and said “this is the only correct way to do it or it won’t work”.

This experience changed my perspective on wooks and I got to see that they’re just real people living life to the fullest. Moon Shadow will be spreading good vibes, borrowing your stuff and spreading the info on how to beat the CoronaVirus this weekend at Okeechobee.

EDM sub-genres – a new ravers guide

What’s your favorite sub genre in EDM? Or are you like me that likes everything? I’ve listed a few below without going to deep into the EDM realm where there’s no coming out of. Let’s look at several of the more popular EDM sub genres we hear at music festivals today.

Trap

EDM trap is a style of electronic dance music (EDM) that originated in the mid-2000s and early 2010s. It blends elements of trap music, an offshoot of Southern hip hop, with elements of EDM like build-ups, drops, and breakdowns. A variety of artists spurred trap’s move into pop and EDM

Techno

Techno is a genre of electronic dance music that is characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat which is generally produced for use in a continuous DJ set. The central rhythm is often in common time, while the tempo typically varies between 120 and 150 beats per minute

Dupstep

Dubstep is a genre of electronic dance music that originated in South London in the late 1990s. It is generally characterised by sparse, syncopated rhythmic patterns with prominent sub-bass frequencies.

House

House is a genre of electronic dance music characterized by a repetitive four on the floor beat and a tempo of 120 to 130 beats per minute.

D&B

Drum and bass is a genre of electronic music characterised by fast breakbeats with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, sampled sources, and synthesizers. The music grew out of breakbeat hardcore. The popularity of drum and bass at its commercial peak ran parallel to several other homegrown dance styles in the UK.

Trance

Trance is a genre of electronic music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. At the same time trance music was developing in Europe, the genre was also gathering a following in the Indian state of Goa.

Hardstyle

Hardstyle is a Dutch electronic dance genre mixing influences from techno and hardcore. Early hardstyle typically consisted of an overdriven and hard-sounding kick drum with a lot of sustain, with intense faded or reversed basslines accompanying the beat.

Big Room

Big room house is a subgenre of electro house. Since the mid-2010s it has become a popular form of electronic dance music. It gained mainstream popularity after artists like KSHMR, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Blasterjaxx, Martin Garrix and R3HAB began infusing it into their musical style.

Future Bass

Future bass is an umbrella term of bass music characterised by less intense drops, pulsating synth chords, exotic percussion and sometimes brass sounds.

Mid Tempo Bass

Midtempo is a genre of Electronic Music derived from techno and Electro House, featuring dark atmospheres and tempos around 80-115bpm.

These EDM sub genre cover all bases especially from an EDM events stand point, but each one has its rabbit hole that you can go into for hours and discover other sub genres with crazy names.

EDCLV main stage designs through the years (2011-2019)

We take a look back at the main stages that EDCLV has had over the years. EDC is known for its festival decore and it’s awesome stage production. EDCLV is also known for its mega stage structures, which in my opinion are the biggest stages at North American music festivals.

Check out EDCLV main stages through the years and tell us your favorite one.

EDCLV – That one time I dropped 2 tabs

Many of us go the extra mile and like to take what I call “mood enhancers” when attending music events. I’m not here to say drugs are bad, but I’m also not here saying you should… just do you boo boo.

EDCLV 2015 was one to remember especially night #2…. before going any further I’ve done acid a few times, but never at a music festival among 100k other people….. with that said you can see where this is headed.

The adventure begins

I’m on the shuttle headed to EDC with my friend and a girl who’s now my wife/baby mama. My friend and I take our first tab and everything is great and I’m just there all smiles and pumped while everyone around me pregamed. An hour passes I’m not feeling jack so I decide to take another one. As we get off the shuttle I’m starting to feel the effects as we’re in the security line waiting to get in.

We’re in and the tabs are tag teaming me…. at this point all I could do was pretend to act normal. It was right after Flume into Pretty Lights when I split from my friend and headed off on an adventure with my now wife/baby mama. At the time this was the first time meeting her in person (we had a FaceTime relationship for months before meeting up in LV for EDC).

Another hour passes and I’m fully tripping. It ain’t even midnight yet and the LSD is kicking my butt royally. Walking in that intensely packed crowd wasn’t fun and all I could try doing was avoiding eye contact because people looked as if they had benjamin button. Being that it was the first time with my lady friend there was no hope in saving myself from a bad trip and no way of her pulling me out. She’s never tripped and basically compared it to being drunk (I wish it was that easy). At this point we’re on different levels and I’m just trying my best to enjoy the night all while pretending I’m handling things like a champ.

I finally grabbed a hold of myself while at the basspod stage and was able to focus it all on Excision. The wave slowly starts to return and everything around me started to seem weird again. This trip intensified and all I could think about was leaving. At this point I’d lost all sense of direction and felt stupidly confused. My lady friend being mad that we were going to miss Dash Berlin helped get us back to the shuttles and on our way to the hotel…. That walk to the shuttle was not fun and felt like a Spongebob episode. The 1 hour ride in the dark back was what I needed to feel better and get my mind back together.

Since then I’ve learned a lot and to never underestimate what I take.
